History of the Club
In October 1955 a small group of dedicated Poodle
breeders and exhibitors formed "The Poodle Club of New South Wales" to promote
and showcase the Poodle.
Some of the goals set by this group for the fledgling
specialist club were
To encourage new Poodle owners to join and
participate in club activities.
To provide advice to newcomers on rearing their puppies, grooming and health
care.
To share advice with those who wished to train and show their Poodles.
To mentor those who wished to breed Poodles.
To hold shows with classes for conformation and obedience.
The Poodle Club of NSW was instrumental in the
renewal of The National Poodle Council and the First National Poodle Show was
held in Sydney in 1988.
Over the past fifty years, the members of the Club have
endeavored to improve the health of all Poodles. They have embraced the
technological changes that have taken place and are using such methods as DNA
testing to further improve their breeding stock.
In 2005, we celebrated our Golden Anniversary year and
the goals of that original small group still stand.
