Poodle Club of New South Wales Inc.

This Code of Ethics establishes a standard of conduct to be followed by all
members of The Poodle Club of NSW Inc throughout
Ownership
represents a great responsibility to each individual, as he or she can either
upgrade or nullify many years of conscientious effort. The breeder especially
must be aware of this responsibility.
The problems of
the breed can only be improved by discriminating and intelligent breeding
programs. Breeding is to enhance positive qualities and cannot be expected to
cover up serious faults. Therefore, breeding partners should be carefully
investigated for background and serious faults before a commitment is made.
As a member of
The Poodle Club of NSW Inc, I hereby agree that:-
1)
I will abide by
my club’s Constitution and By-laws and support the ANKC standard for the Poodle.
2)
I will abide by
all ANKC and my state’s controlling body Rules & Regulations where they pertain.
3)
I will, at all
times, whether at home, traveling, at shows, or in public places, display good
sportsmanship and conduct myself in a manner that will reflect positively upon
my club and the Poodle.
4)
I will help to
educate the public in the ANKC Standard for the Poodle and in all other
areas where I am qualified.
5)
I will try to
breed in such a manner as to improve the quality of the breed.
6)
I will not mate
my Poodle to any “non Main Register” Poodle or to a dog or bitch of another
breed whether registered or not.
7)
I will not
knowingly use for breeding any dogs and/or bitches with major defects.
8)
I will not
knowingly sell any dog or bitch that have defects of a nature that is
detrimental to the breed.
9)
I will sell
Poodles only in a good healthy condition that are, to the best of my knowledge,
free from any communicable disease.
10)
I will supply
each purchaser with the following at the time of sale:-
a)
Certificate of
Registration and Pedigree from my state’s controlling body.
b)
NB. This
certificate may have to be forwarded after receipt from controlling body.
c)
Immunization
Certificate endorsed by a Veterinarian.
d)
Diet and Care
information sheet,
e)
Microchip
Certificate or any other certificate required by my State.
f)
Signed receipt.
11)
I will not sell
stock without true representation to the purchaser. All advertising will be
honest and not in any way misrepresentative, misleading or fraudulent.
12)
I will continue
to offer helpful assistance to the buyer as long as such aid is required.
13)
I will not
knowingly sell or donate any Poodle to a commercial dog wholesaler
or a retail pet dealer (not approved by my state’s controlling body),
or directly or indirectly allow them to be given as prizes in contests of any
kind, or for any purpose that may lead to their exploitation.
14)
I/we support
the health testing of Poodles.
A CODE OF ETHICS IS ONLY AS GOOD AS THOSE WHO ABIDE BY ITS CONTENTS.
