What sort of activities does the Poodle Club organise or support?

Here is a summary of the Poodle Club’s main activities. You will find more information by looking at the drop down pages under this tab. Please be patient – some of these pages are at a very early stage of development.

Conformation Shows – The Committee , and in particular the Show Secretary, plans and runs two Championship shows every year, at Easter and in October. These shows are conducted by the Club exclusively for ANKC Registered Poodles of all three varieties.

Obedience Trials - The Committee, and in particular the Trial Secretary and Show Secretary, plans and runs an Obedience Trial in conjunction with the October Championship show every year.The Poodle Club also supports the participation of a Poodle Team in the annual NSW Inter Club Obedience Challenge, and aims to encourage Poodle participation in other Obedience and Agility Trials.

Dances with Dogs – This is a relatively new but fast growing sport that is attracting the interest of a number of Poodle owners. The Club is fortunate to have members who are involved at the organizing Committee level of this interesting activity. At present the Poodle Club has not included Dancing with Dogs competitions in the schedule of our shows but in the future they may be added.

Information and Promotion – Dogs NSW holds a DOGS ON SHOW event each June at the Bill Spilstead Canine Complex in Luddenham Road, Erskine Park in Western Sydney to show case pure bred dogs to the general public. The Poodle Club conducts a stall that is staffed by Poodle Club volunteers who can provide event visitors with information about Poodles. The Poodle Club also supports the Pet Expo.

The Poodle Club is also considering how to set up other information and promotion activities.

Fun Days for Members – A small group of Members is starting work to develop new ideas or redeveloping old ideas for Fun Days for Members. These may include anything that can be thought of that Members are likely to be interested in.
